We knew we made a great decision to buy into Hummingbird when our kids were even more excited than we were to go to the cabin summer or winter. They could hardly wait to leave our home in North Vancouver to see their lake friends. We were looking for a community and we found one! Days and nights on the beach have been family affairs with sandcastle competitions, fireworks and s’mores. Who could ask for more? The five hour drive seemed daunting at first, but the route is easy, and besides; if that’s what it takes to get better weather, summer or winter, then it’s worth it. When you buy into a new development, you wonder if your expectations will be met. The workmanship of our cabin, the quality of the marina and the little extras that the developer put into Hummingbird exceeded our expectations.

We would like to take this opportunity to say that Hummingbird Resort is one of those rare properties where first class facilities at reasonable prices have combined to make this a unique development. Our family enjoys the comfortable, community feel as lots of kids of all ages are able to play together and parents have peace of mind that everyone is looking out for all of them. We are able to recreate with other families from all over Western Canada. Our primary residence is in the Kelowna area and the short drive for us is a nice precursor to the relaxed life we enjoy when we get to our cabin. After many years of ‘camping’ on Mara we have definitely found our second home and look forward to many more years of fun at the lake in the summer and in the snow during the winter.

After purchasing our Hummingbird Cabin late last summer, and after waiting anxiously for it to be completed, we just enjoyed our first May long weekend at what has instantly become our new favorite destination. At Hummingbird Beach Resort, we find it impossible to wipe the smiles from our faces. Sun drenched, lazy mornings turn into active afternoons on the water which pave the way to casual yet intimate dinners on our patio. While its incredibly difficult to pick just one or two great things about our new family getaway, two of our favorite examples are falling asleep to the sound of the creek and even better, watching our son turn strangers into friends in a matter of minutes. Hummingbird Resort is a dream come true: an exquisite four season resort in a gorgeous setting, nestled in beautiful Swansea Point on Mara Lake.

After vacationing on Mara and Shuswap Lakes for years, we are so happy to finally have a home to call our own. To top it off, it’s such a unique resort! Everything from Beachfront cabins and Townhomes, to individual Detached Cabins and lovely Creekside Cottage sites….the layout of the property is unbeatable. There truly is something here for everyone!

HBR is an easy drive (less than 2 hours from our home in Kamloops). Plus, since the resort is located halfway along the lake, either the 97B route through Sicamous or the 97A route via Enderby/Grindrod work out to be the same distance. The people at HBR are wonderful. We have a great caretaker who’s on site year-round to provide us with peace of mind when we can’t be there, and we’ve already met a number of families with solid family values and great kids of all ages. This past May long weekend was filled with fun activities in which the whole resort participated: a BBQ on the beach, an evening campfire with s’mores and we even had our 1st annual dock-jump. Awesome! It was evident from the moment we arrived that Hummingbird is a place where we can kick back, unwind, and relax while enjoying the resort, the company of others, and the lake. The possibilities are endless.

My family has been going to Mara Lake for over twenty years. We usually do the drive from Calgary two or three times throughout the summer, and it usually takes us about five and a half hours through the mountains. We have made a few trips out to Radium, Windermere and Invermere, and even though it is only three hours the lakes are not as warm, it is very overcrowded and not much of a family feeling to the places we have stayed. Hummingbird Beach Resort on Mara Lake is everything we wanted for a family resort and experience. It is the most unique and beautiful property on the lake as it offers park models, cabins and townhomes on the beach, something for everyone’s needs. The dock is state of the art for our boat and the beach is very expansive with white sand. The cabin we purchased offers us year round use with boating in the summer and ski-ing and sledding in the winter. We have three kids of different ages and all three love to go to the cabin on the lake as they have met new friends and we have all created a new community. I know that we will be enjoying Hummingbird Beach Resort for many generations.
